Free COVID-19 testing system will be reactivated in Puerto Vallarta
Dr. José Francisco Muñoz Valle announced that the University of Guadalajara will reactivate the free COVID-19 testing system on Thursday. Dr. Muñoz is a member of the Health Situation Room and the Rector of the University Center of Health Sciences (CUCS). This system will aid in the identification of active cases and the reduction of contagion in the state. Specifically, the system will go live in Puerto Vallarta on Monday the 16th of this month.
Ideally, he system will perform up to 5,000 free PCR tests per month during the initial phase. That is, 1,350 people per week to help isolate affected people and break the cycle of infection.
Muoz Valle stated that the Laboratory of the University Center of Health Sciences will be open beginning August 12. Following that, beginning August 16, testing modules will be available at the following university centers:
- Tonalá (CUTonalá)
- de la Costa (CUCosta) in Puerto Vallarta
- de los Altos (CUAltos) in Tepatitlán.
People who have a fever, a cough, difficulty breathing, or are suspicious of being infected can make an appointment for testing. The phone number is 33 3540 3001. It will be available Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
From April 28 to December 28, the COVID-19 Diagnostic System laboratory at the Centro Universitario de la Costa performed a total of 5,858 PCR and fast tests.
