Occupancy in Riviera Nayarit expected to reach 72%
According to Marc Murphy, director of the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau, hotel occupancy for the next vacation period will be between 68 and 72 percent. He stated that a lot of national tourism will arrive through last-minute bookings, implying that this destination will have a terrific holiday season.
Occupancy limit is currently at 70% for Riviera Nayarit. If the government allows us to raise it to, let’s say 80% in a week, we believe we will be able to satisfy the 80% limit.
On the other hand, there were questions about the effects that the restrictions announced by the Nayarit government will have on this destination. These restrictions include the cancellation of massive events and will go into effect as of July 5. He said that there will be an impact on the promotional side, but not on tourism.
We will have consequences as Convention and Visitors Bureau. Any large events scheduled within the next six weeks may have to be rescheduled. October or November are the months I see more likely.
