95 percent occupancy expected in Isla Mujeres for summer holidays

For the months of July and August, the Isla Mujeres municipality expects a 95 percent hotel occupancy rate. Isla Mujeres Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde revealed the busy, nearly sold-out numbers on Wednesday.

She stated that an average occupancy rate of nearly 95% is anticipated throughout the municipality for the remaining days of July and the month of August.

The Mayor noted that Isla Mujeres has recently reported very positive occupation rates, with a figure of 86.2 percent; this number is anticipated to rise with the summer vacation period.

According to Gómez Ricalde, there are 91 hotels in the municipality, totaling 12,355 rooms, with 17 on the mainland of the Continental Zone (Costa Mujeres) and 74 on an island. She claimed that 3,000 new hotel rooms had been added to Isla Mujeres in the previous 12 months.

She said that the municipality would become the busiest in the state with a 95 percent hotel occupancy rate.
