Executives from Aeromexico and the Cozumel government are collaborating to increase island flights. Cozumel’s Department of Tourism and Economic Development attended a meeting with businesspeople and Aeromexico executives, including José Zapata, Vice President of National Sales.

Badih Sleme Flores, the director of tourism and economic development for Cozumel, stated that they are collaborating to establish crucial strategies to increase the arrival of overnight tourists on the island via diversifications like sporting and cultural events.

According to Jorge Zapata, they will work closely with the destination to promote the island using fresh tactics. “The flight is going very well, but like everyone else, we want it to go much better. Based on the results obtained so far and without guaranteeing anything, it is foreseeable that there will be more than one daily flight.”

According to him, there were only three frequencies at first, and now there are seven per week, which unquestionably shows that more flights could be added.

This operation, which presently offers a Monday–Friday flight with a 99-seat aircraft, was planned four months ago. The 165-seat aircraft used by the plan arrives on Saturdays and Sundays. As of now, the plane is 80% full upon arrival, with 95% of the passengers being domestic.
