Cancun International Airport received nearly half of all international air travelers into Mexico in 2022. According to Miguel Torruco Marqués, Minister of Tourism, over 20.6 million international tourists arrived in the country by air last year.

That figure, he reported, is 46.3 percent higher than in 2021 and 8.2 percent higher than international air passengers received in 2019.

The main international arrivals between January and December 2022 were from the United States, Canada, and Colombia.

According to the Secretary of Tourism, Cancun International, Mexico City International (AICM), and Los Cabos received the most international tourists in 2022.

More than 15.8 million international air passengers landed at the three airports. Over 9.4 million of those visited Cancun International, a 47.7 percent increase over the previous year. Over 4.2 million people arrived at the AICM, with 2.1 million arriving in Los Cabos.

Mexico had over 107 million air passengers between domestic and international flights in 2022.
