This represents +7.4% more than what was programmed in 2022 (32 million 511 thousand).

Between January and June 2023, 8 million more passengers arrived at Quintana Roo’s airports, a 12.51% increase compared to 2022. Cancun International Airport receives passengers especially from cities of 5 major markets; the United States takes the first place with about 38% of participation, followed by the domestic market with 34.5%, then Canada with 9.79%. Also, the United Kingdom with 2.1% of participation, Colombia with almost 2%, France with 1.3%, Argentina with 1.27%, Germany 1.9%, Spain 1.88% and Brazil which is down.

According to Javier Aranda Pedrero, head of the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council (CPTQ), Quintana Roo’s airports have 3.8 million seats available for the fall, projecting a 6% growth compared to the same period in 2022, and this is thanks to the interest that the Mexican Caribbean destinations continue to generate among visitors from all over the world, which makes airlines want to fly to Cancun at this time of the year.
