Cancun and Tulum airports to share ground transportation service

By Tribune Travel

November 28, 2023

When the Tulum airport opens, Riviera Maya transportation drivers who commute to Cancun will have another choice. Drivers who are currently working at Cancun International Airport will be able to test between Cancun and Tulum.

Because many drivers live in Playa del Carmen and Tulum but go to the Cancun airport every day for business, this option is being made available. Not only will the move relieve pressure on already clogged federal routes, but it would also save Riviera Maya transportation drivers hours of commuting time.

The airport transport businesses are looking into distributing the Playa del Carmen and Tulum drivers between the two airports so that they can choose which airport is best for them. The new Tulum air terminal would save them the commute.

Drivers may also be given the option of alternating between the Cancun and Tulum airports, depending on demand at Tulum International.

Tulum’s new Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport is set to open on December 1, 2023. To present, bus firm ADO and vehicle rental company AVASA have stated that they will also provide transportation from the Tulum airport.
