According to the National Institute of Migration (INM), Cancun International is the busiest airport in the country and the main point of entry. During his Wednesday visit, INM Commissioner Francisco Garduño Yáñez reported that the airport served over 13.7 million passengers during the 2022-2023 tourist season.

According to him, it is the primary point of entry into Mexico, followed by the Mexico City International Airport.

According to Garduño Yáñez, 824,233 people have used the E-Gates since they became operational in Mexico City and Cancun in December 2022. Cancun had 568,619 visitors, or 70% of the total, while Mexico City had 255,614 visitors, or 30%.

Garduño Yáñez was at Cancun International Airport this week to monitor and assess migration flows. Because of the significant increase in passengers, his stop was part of a regional tour.

According to him, Cancun International is the main point of entry into the country, with 13,736,495 tourists expected in 2022-2023, followed by Mexico City International with 10,555,845.
