Three cruise ships adjust their Riviera Maya schedule due to Hurricane Idalia

The itinerary of three cruises that were scheduled to stop at Cozumel’s port were modified Sunday because of what is now Hurricane Idalia.

Disney Fantasy, Grandeur of the Seas, and Carnival Conquest were slated to arrive on the island between Monday and Wednesday.

However, all three cruise ships altered their routes as a result of Hurricane Idalia. Grandeur of the Seas postponed their arrival for August 31 while Disney Fantasy decided to completely cancel Cozumel.

Idalia also forced the cancellation of Carnival Conquest, which was set for a full island day on August 30.

Idalia passed the eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula over the past weekend as a tropical storm. The outer bands of the storm soaked the region as it made its way toward the Gulf of Mexico.

Idalia ultimately crossed the state’s Cancun-Cozumel region and sailed into the Gulf on Monday. Idalia reached the NOAA-predicted hurricane strength by Tuesday morning.

Idalia is anticipated to make landfall on Florida’s west coast on Wednesday as a level 4 hurricane.
