November 07, 2023

The Cozumel International Airport welcomed back Delta Airlines after a three-year hiatus, with a plane carrying 147 passengers from Atlanta landing on Sunday.

The new daily route from Atlanta to Cozumel will boost overnight tourism and the island’s economy. The return of Delta Airlines was celebrated with a water arch and ribbon cutting ceremony, marking a historic moment for Cozumel.

The flight’s arrival coincides with the start of the high tourism season, and the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo in Cozumel has noted an increase in flights from 37 to 59 per week.

Delta Airlines is a valuable commercial partner for Cozumel, and its return is significant. The airline will also increase its frequencies on Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday from December 16, 2033, to April 8, 2024, arriving from Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The daily flights to Cozumel will be operated by a Boeing 737-800 with a capacity of 160 passengers.
