Mexico’s Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) agreed to continue the Federal Civil Aviation Agency’s audit process (AFAC).

The process will be carried out through a technical assistance exercise from February 6 to 10, so that Mexico is prepared and can return to Category 1 in terms of air safety as soon as possible.

SICT and FAA agreed that restoring Category 1 service as soon as possible is a top priority for the governments of Mexico and the United States in order to ensure the safety of more than 30 million passengers.

The AFAC developed a Comprehensive Action Plan to address the final audit phase of the International Aviation Safety Assessment Program.
