Monterrey to Cozumel route to reopen for summer

June 06, 2023

Summer service between Monterrey and Cozumel has been restored by VivaAerobus. The reinstated flights are intended to meet connectivity requirements and increase tourism during the busiest travel period of the year, the summer.

Up until August, there will be two weekly departures on the Monterrey to Cozumel route.

On June 2, the airline made its first flight to the island with 180 passengers. On social media, the Government of Cozumel posted “Welcome! With more than 180 passengers, the VivaAerobus flight from Monterrey arrived this Friday in Cozumel. Thank you very much for trusting in our destination!”

As a result of the addition of three new routes—Cancun to Los Cabos, Cancun to Quito, and the reactivated Monterrey–Cozumel route—the airline has increased the number of flights into Quintana Roo this year.

In Quintana Roo, VivaAerobus currently offers 31 routes, 29 of which are to and from Cancun, one from Cozumel, and one from Chetumal.
