Playa del Carmen: Hotels almost full for winter season

Playa del Carmen’s hotels are close to full for the winter season, with an increase in occupancy up to 95%, but in addition the small hotels have already increased their figures to 70%, when they had only reached 50% in previous months.

“The trend is upward, we hope that the small hotels located on Fifth Avenue and 10th Street can also reach 90 percent,” said Carlos Jiménez, director of tourism promotion for the municipality.

He pointed out that U.S. travelers occupy the first place in reservations. However, national tourists from Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo itself have been increasing these days.

The Hotel Association of Cancun, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres estimates that the hotels will be almost full until January, which is why they have just held their monthly job fair to recruit 500 workers to fill their vacancies.
