Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama announced the establishment of the Yum Kaax Tianguis Monday morning.

The tianguis (market) is a low-cost project for the purchase and sale of regional and foreign products. The market will capitalize on Chetumal’s free zone status while also restoring significance to the Mexican Caribbean.

The Yum Kaax Commercial Market will have almost 14,000 square meters of store space and 50,000 open spaces that may be converted into markets for producers, distributors, and consumers, outlet stores, hotels, offices, or warehouses, and other uses.

The Yum Kaax Commercial Market intends to create synergy with initiatives in the region in order to become a trade point for products and services, with the goal of activating and expanding local economy.
