The popularity of Baja California Sur as a tourist destination continues to grow abroad. In this regard, the Commercial Director of the State Tourism Trust (FITUES), Sandra Felix, pointed out that they are exploring new markets: one of them is Chicago.

She explained that these tourists, who come from the Midwest region of the United States, opt for the central peninsula when choosing a place to go on vacation, especially the municipality of Loreto. This has been established thanks to the exit surveys and tourist profile studies that they carry out on a monthly basis.

Sandra Felix pointed out that most of the American tourists who come to Baja California Sur come from states such as Washington, California and Texas. This happens because of the air connections with these places. However, after realizing that the state is being recognized in other areas, a new tourism promotion strategy has been initiated.

In addition, work is being done to diversify the offer. The aim is to promote the places in the north of the state so that they are also visited by tourists.

Finally, he said that the fame that Baja California Sur has gained in recent years is not only due to the actions of the authorities, but also to the work of travel agencies and tourism service providers.
