During the “Maja La Grande” fishing tournament held on July 9th in the bay of La Paz, one of the participating boats ended up sinking with its crew members on board while sailing on the sea.

Following the emergency call, elements of Civil Protection and rescue units were mobilized to the point of aid to save the fishermen who were in danger of drowning.

One by one, the team members were taken into a rescue vessel to return to dry land and reach safety.

The victims of the shipwreck received first aid before being declared out of danger.

The competitors in the fishing tournament were duped by the weather in La Paz on this particular day, according to preliminary information made public by the Civil Protection authorities.

The boat that crossed the waters of La Paz to compete for the championship’s top spot sank due to the strong maritime current caused by the wind and rain that were present in the city’s capital.

Despite the conclusion of the nautical challenge, the bay is still under a warning code to prevent the navigation of small, vulnerable boats in nearby waters.
