According to the 3 extraordinary samplings carried out this weekend by the State Commission for the Protection against Health Risks (Coepris) at the beach of El Tecolote, in the municipality of La Paz, the seawater in this area is in optimal conditions for recreational use, informed the head of the agency, José Manuel Larumbe Pineda.

It is worth mentioning that this weekend the Citizen Observer Network (ROC) conducted studies that showed that the sea of El Tecolote is not suitable for swimming, or fishing; on the other hand, the secretary of the City Council of La Paz, Pavel Perez, explained that the high number of bacteria found could be the result of the increased number of bathers who came to the area during the Easter week.

In this regard, Coepris said that such information is incorrect, since on Saturday they took samples in different points that were analyzed by the State Laboratory of Public Health (LESP), which, as they detail, has federal certification and from the sanitary authority of the United States to perform this type of procedures, stressed the doctor.

The results were less than 10 fecal enterococci per 100 milliliters of seawater, which indicates that there are favorable sanitary conditions, taking into account that the safety guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) establish that a beach is not suitable for recreational use when it presents 200 or more enterococci per 100 milliliters of water, detailed the doctor.
