Expedia to pay lodging tax: state government

By Tribune Travel

October 27, 2023

According to Karina Olivas Parra, Director of Revenue of the Ministry of Finance of Baja California Sur, currently the platforms dedicated to short term rentals Airbnb and Booking already pay the tax.

Airbnb is already firm, they already pay taxes in our state, Booking is also another of the platforms that pay their taxes on lodging services and we are about to finalize with Expedia, hopefully soon, as they are the most important platforms, as the three have to pay their taxes as well,

Currently, only 12 states, including Baja California Sur, pay lodging tax. It is worth mentioning that this year the Congress of the State of Baja California Sur approved modifications to Article 16 of the Tax Law of the state, so that as of January 1, 2023 the was increased from 3 to 4 percent.
