Hurricane Norma headed to Baja as category 4

On Thursday, October 19th, the meteorological occurrence known as “Norma” rapidly escalated to a category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson scale, while continuing its northward trajectory with maximum sustained winds of 215 km/h.
The impending rainfall in Los Cabos is a cause for concern, as it is estimated that 45,000 individuals reside in high-risk areas or informal settlements. Educational institutions have been prepared to serve as temporary shelters in anticipation of the imminent emergency.
“Norma” is projected to make landfall in Baja California Sur on Saturday, October 21st, as a category 1. Presently, “Norma” is situated 420 km southwest of Playa PĂ©rula, Jalisco, and 725 km south-southeast of Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, with a northward displacement of 11 km/h, maximum sustained winds of 195 km/h, and maximum wind gusts of 240 km/h.
