Debut of La Paz-Monterrey Flight Boosts Regional Tourism

On Thursday, the La Paz-Monterrey flight commenced its operations, with the first passengers boarding shortly after 2:30 p.m., marking an official milestone for the route. Previously, travelers between Monterrey and La Paz had to opt for flights with layovers, but they now have a faster and direct option, expected to attract more visitors to both destinations.

The route will be serviced twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, by one of the commercial airlines already serving La Paz Airport. This route is among the new ones starting in July. Additionally, another route connects the capital of Baja California Sur to Guanajuato.

The inauguration event witnessed the presence of state and local government representatives, who participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. A press conference followed, shedding light on the objectives of this new flight. Maribel Collins Sánchez, director of the State Secretariat of Tourism and Economy (SETUE), emphasized that the route will boost domestic tourism in the region.

“To extend visitors’ stays and capitalize on the opportunity, we celebrate the Monterrey-La Paz route with two frequencies, operating on Thursdays and Sundays. Our projections indicate that this new flight will contribute over 120 million pesos annually to the local economy and attract around 15,000 tourists,” she stated.

Governor Victor Manuel Castro Cosío declared an ongoing commitment to improve the state’s air connectivity, with a focus on both domestic and international destinations.

“As a crucial economic activity, tourism will continue to thrive in Baja California Sur. The number of flights we have reflects our progress,” he asserted.

The authorities highlighted the importance of simultaneous marketing efforts for the region, coinciding with the launch of these new flights. This strategy aims to sustain consumer interest in the market and stimulate regional tourism growth.
