Los Cabos, a popular summer vacation spot for Americans

The tourism industry in Mexico and Los Cabos is anticipating a busy summer, which officially starts on June 21. The majority of travelers to our destination come from the United States, which is a significant trading partner.

Cancun, Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta are the beach destinations that Americans prefer for their summer vacations, according to the “Top 10 Summer Travel Destinations” report by Allianz Partners. After Cancun, Los Cabos is the second-most popular destination.

Lilzi Orcí Fregoso, who represents the Los Cabos Hotel Association (AHLC), has stated that 69% occupancy is anticipated during this vacation period, which is similar to the figure seen in 2022. This is a reflection of how popular it continues to be for Americans to travel to La Cabeza and take in its beaches in the summer.

In the summer, the Baja California Sur municipalities of Loreto and Comond anticipate a tourist occupancy rate of over 85%. This accomplishment is a result of the municipalities’ and Tourism Trusts’ collaborative efforts. The state’s Secretary of Tourism and Economy, Maribel Collins Sánchez, emphasized how successful tourism has been in the area because of cooperation.

We can see that this year’s growth is still producing significant numbers. The north of the state is expected to have an occupancy rate of 85% during the summer. Loreto is constantly packed; Comond is the administration’s challenge. To ignite tourism in that region, we collaborate with the trusts in the municipality, the state, and Loreto. We face a significant challenge in La Paz.

The resorts with the highest occupancy were listed by the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR) of the Government of Mexico between January and March 2023. With respective occupancy rates of 87.6% and 86.6%, Akumal and Playacar stood out. Nuevo Nayarit came in second with 84.4%, ahead of Cabo San Lucas with 84.5%. Puerto Vallarta recorded an 83.6% rate.
