The recovery rates in Los Cabos are still quite good. The Los Cabos Hotel Association predicted that the area would experience a 69% occupancy rate throughout the summer. However, thanks to marketing initiatives by the private sector and the Los Cabos Tourism Trust (Fiturca), July is anticipated to end with a 70% occupancy rate, which is 1% higher than the previous estimates.

Lilzi Orcí Fregoso, a representative of the hotel industry in Los Cabos, emphasized that the rise in occupancy during the summer was caused by an increase in the number of domestic tourists, who already account for about 35% of all visitors to the area.

July is already above 70%. Talking about 70% during the summer, it is very easy to say, but the truth is complicated to reach them. This is the result of the different promotional actions that are aimed at the national market, which are the ones that visit us the most during this summer.

Air routes such as the Mexicali – Los Cabos route, which was launched last week and will have two frequencies per week, will give the opportunity to promote more national and international tourism. According to the Mexicali Tourism and Conventions Committee, it is expected that the flight will not only boost domestic tourism, international visitors from California and Europe will have the opportunity to reach Los Cabos through this route, explained Lilzi Orcí.

This route was announced at the Tianguis Turístico, obviously the airline has a lot to do as well, it is a conjunction of efforts. On the part of the destination, we are looking to have a little more national segmentation. I was hearing that this route can serve us for national tourism and number two can serve us as an air bridge for our travelers from California, just as they are doing with Tijuana.

With a total of 46,000 seats available, Volaris Airlines will be in charge of running the route between Los Cabos and Mexicali. It is important to note that information presented at the most recent meeting of the Los Cabos International Airport Advisory Board showed that, in the first semester of 2023, Volaris had the highest number of passengers transferred with 758,952 passengers, followed by American Airlines with 611,236 tourists, and VivaAerobus with 414,694 passengers.
