Los Cabos receives 1 million international visitors this year, ranking third countrywide

The number of foreign visitors arriving in Mexico by air between January and May of this year 2023 has significantly increased, according to data provided by the Ministry of the Interior’s (Segob) authorities.

A total of 9 million 056 thousand foreign visitors were welcomed into the country, an increase of 6.8% over the 8 million 479 thousand arrivals that were recorded during the same time period in 2019.

The airports in Cancun, Mexico City International Airport (AICM), and Los Cabos saw the most foreign tourists between January and May of 2023.

According to the report, Cancun airport recorded the arrival of 4 million 5,000 foreign tourists between January and May 2023. In contrast, the AICM saw a 1.63 percent increase in visitors—1,630,000—over the first five months of the prior year.

Similar increases were seen at Los Cabos Airport, which saw a million and 57 thousand more international visitors than it did during the same time in 2022, an increase of 13.6%.

Two million 365 thousand international travelers arrived at the remaining airports between January and May 2023, up 22.8% from the arrivals in the first five months of 2022.
