Los Cabos stands out with 25% of Blue Flag certifications in Mexico

Mexico continues to cement its leadership in the American continent by earning the most beaches, marinas, and sustainable tourism vessels the prestigious Blue Flag Distinction during the Second Meeting of the National Blue Flag Jury 2022-2023. Los Cabos stands out among the noteworthy figures revealed for having received 25% of all national certifications.

Mexico is ranked 10th in the world in terms of sustainability and quality in regards of its coastal tourist destinations, with 70 beaches, 2 marinas, and 31 boats distinguished in the upcoming season. Mexico’s beaches, which stretch along more than 15,000 kilometers of coastline, are a major draw for tourists.

With its enviable location on the Baja California peninsula, Los Cabos has distinguished itself by earning 25% of all Blue Flag certifications nationwide. Its dedication to environmental management, public safety, and high-quality services at its beaches and maritime areas is reflected in this accomplishment.

These outstanding results have been made possible by collaboration between government authorities, civil society organizations, and service providers.

The Foundation for Environmental Education’s (FEE) Blue Flag program has been instrumental in assessing and keeping track of environmental compliance at authorized beaches, marinas, and boats. This affirmation not only increases tourists’ self-assurance but also establishes Los Cabos as a sustainable tourist destination.
