In March, the country received around 2,712.8 billion dollars from international tourists, an increase of 7.3 percent compared to the same period last year, according to official figures.

Domestic tourists accounted for 95.61 percent of the total, with the remainder coming from cross-border tourists.

Presenting the International Traveler Surveys (EVI) as of March 2023, Inegi highlighted that only in the third month of the year, a flow of six million 698 thousand 517 visitors was registered, of which 3.5 million were foreigners.

Since the end of 2021, tourism has been favored by a greater economic opening and promotions or discounts in travel, hotel and tourism companies.

This industry was one of the most affected during at least the first year of the pandemic, that is, in 2020, causing the arrival of international travelers to be below two million people.

In January this year alone, nearly 3.4 million international tourists arrived in the country, an increase of 28.5 percent at annual rate and 400 thousand less compared to January 2020, before the impact of the pandemic.
