Netflix’s “El Elegido” expected to boost Mulegé’s tourism

The broadcast of Netflix’s “El Elegido,” shot in Mulegé, Baja California Sur, is expected to increase tourism by putting the region on the world map. The series showcases the area’s main attractions.

The new Netflix series, “El Elegido,” (The Chosen One) will premiere in Mexico on August 16. The audiovisual production was filmed in Mulegé, Baja California Sur. The series highlights the attractions of the region and will position Mulegé, Baja California Sur, on the world map and boost local tourism.

The digital platform has already shared previews of some of Mulegé’s iconic sites. These images showcase the Church of Santa Barbara in Santa Rosalia, a structure designed by Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel.

According to Aguilar Villavicencio, Mulegé is becoming increasingly popular in the film industry. The municipality’s landscapes and towns are attracting the attention of an increasing number of series and movies. This has a direct positive impact on the region’s economy.

“The Chosen One,” a series on Netflix, is based on the comic book “American Jesus”. The story follows Jodie, a teenager who lives in Baja California Sur and discovers one day that he has the powers of Jesus Christ, causing a transformation in his own life and those of his community. Bobby Luhnow, Dianna Agron and Tenoch Huerta star in this supernatural series.
