Santa Rosalía becomes the third magical town of Baja California Sur

Santa Rosalía, a community in the municipality of Mulegé, has been added to the Magical Towns Program, according to the Baja California Sur Ministry of Tourism and Economy (SETUE). This national recognition will help to strongly promote the destination by giving it a strong global brand.
Santa Rosalía is now one of these destinations after years of work to establish it as another fantastic reference in Mexico because of its rich history, tradition, and culture.
With the addition of this emblem, Santa Rosalía joins Todos Santos (2006) and Loreto (2012) as the third historic town in the state.
Santa Rosalía is a small town located in the north of the state; it has French traces and is located in front of the Sea of Cortez. Its history dates back to the installation of the “El Boleo” company in 1885 by the French, who were fascinated by the abundance of copper in the area and obtained a concession from then President Porfirio Díaz to extract the material.
It is one of the oldest mining towns in the state, it is also known as the Sudcalifornian France because of its important and beautiful buildings. It has places of reference such as Santa Barbara Church, Mining History Museum, El Boleo Bakery, Hotel Frances, El Boleo Foundry Building.
