The first long weekend of the year will have an occupancy of 80% in Los Cabos

Next weekend will be first long weekend of the year. According to figures presented by the Mexican Government’s Tourism Secretary (SECTUR), it is estimated that a 35-billion-peso economic spillover will be generated in Mexico and an average hotel occupancy of 49.8%.

In February, an important month for the hotel sector of Los Cabos, it is expected that tourist developments will register an approximate occupancy of 80%, three percentage points above what they had in January.

The Hotel Association of Los Cabos, through its Executive Director Lilzi OrcĂ­ Fragoso, explained that February is a little higher than January. During January there was a decrease, this month is not bad and there is an increase of a few points. It goes up around three to four percentage points, in February they are approaching 80% average accumulated occupancy.

National tourism will be the main market visiting the destination during the long weekend. Data from the Los Cabos Tourism Trust (FITURCA) reveal that 40% of tourists coming to Los Cabos are domestic visitors, registering an average daily spending of 6 thousand pesos.
