Since the Covid-19 pandemic began, bars and nightclubs have only been permitted to operate until midnight, with some exceptions allowing them to operate until 1 a.m. with a capacity of no more than 50%.

The restrictions were lifted on January 1, 2023, as nightclubs are able to extend their hours of operation until 5 a.m. The Cabo Nocturno association requested that the last December hours be extended.

The municipal government approved the proposal, which required business owners to pay the corresponding overtime in addition to complying with all biosecurity measures to avoid Covid-19 infection.

According to the Chamber of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (Canaco) Los Cabos, due to low sales in 2020, 20% of the nightlife and gastronomy businesses located in the tourist zone of the San Lucas delegation filed for bankruptcy.

Tourists and locals were able to enjoy the party without restrictions and at full capacity on New Year’s Eve; only in establishments with closed spaces were masks required to avoid Covid-19 infection.
