The Sea of Cortez economic bloc meets in Los Cabos

From November 8 to 10, Los Cabos will host the third Summit of the Sea of Cortez Forum, under the theme Prosperity: Possible Purpose. 350 leaders from the region’s business, academic, civil society and government sectors will meet to address an agenda of issues related to habitat protection and restoration, economic development and social inclusion.

Baja California, Baja California Sur, Nayarit, Sinaloa and Sonora have become an important economic bloc, as together they contribute11% of the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

During 2023, the economic block that makes up the Sea of Cortez registered an average growth of 5.6%, compared to 2.4% at the national level. It is worth mentioning that they are one of the entities with the highest share of formal employment, with 12.4% of the entire country and 11.1% of Foreign Direct Investment.

The third edition of the summit will have the participation of 31 exhibitors, who will develop topics related to economic, social, environmental and Artificial Intelligence development. During the three-day event, participants will have the opportunity to attend a series of activities, including conferences, talks, project presentations and panel discussions.

Among the featured panelists will be Koichiro Ishimori, CEO at Value Frontier, who will speak about the Shell Nurse sustainable artificial reef project by JICA Mexico that is being implemented in Baja California Sur.
