Timeshares to close 2022 with 98% occupancy

By Tribune Travel

December 29, 2022

The timeshare industry in Los Cabos expects to close the year with a 98% occupancy rate, two percentage points above the commercial hotel occupancy rate.

The high demand registered during Christmas and New Year’s Eve gets timeshares to rent more rooms within the tourist developments. Some sectors report over 100% occupancy during these last days of the year.

According to the Los Cabos Hotel Association, the destination’s occupancy rate is anticipated to reach over 90% by the end of the year. The timeshare sector anticipates a 9% rise for the upcoming year, or a single-digit yearly growth rate.

Eliminating fraud by rogue timeshare providers will be a challenge in 2023. Authorities like the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco), in particular, need to pay attention to the fraud reports that these kinds of dishonest businesses consistently file.
