Over 50,000 people to travel to Vallarta by bus
July 26, 2023
According to Carlos Murgua Cibrián, general manager of the bus terminal, more than 50,000 passengers are expected at the Puerto Vallarta Bus Terminal during this summer break, along with a 30% increase in bus routes.
He noted that 48 thousand passengers were registered during the same 40-day vacation period last year, so the increase in 2023 is significant. The majority of the extra travelers are from Mexico City, Guadalajara, and other beach resort cities like Mazatlan and Acapulco. He mentioned that there have been more runs recently, particularly on weekends.
For example, if on a typical day we have about 150 departures during the day, during vacation periods we have 180 to 200, and it is on weekends when there is more passenger movement. Extra runs are implemented every 30 or 40 minutes depending on passenger demand on the 5 commercial lines that serve all Vallarta residents and tourists.
Students and senior citizens can receive discounts from the bus companies during this holiday season; all you have to do is ask. Additionally, this terminal collaborates with the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) and municipal security and transit authorities.
Murgua Cibrián, however, emphasized that vacations are also taken by the residents of Vallarta.
“From here (Puerto Vallarta), outward, the vallartenses visit Guadalajara, the city from which we have the record that it is the city to which the majority of locals travel, along with Mexico City, the Bajo, León, are also in great demand, and Tepic.”
Finally, he emphasized that although the rain-induced landslides on the highway have delayed the arrival of buses, the delays have not been particularly concerning.
