This second route to connect Bahía de Banderas with Puerto Vallarta is nearing completion, with construction proceeding rapidly from La Cruz de Huanacaxtle to Ixtapa, linking up with the new Guadalajara-Tepic-Puerto Vallarta highway.

The route has reached the Jardines del Sol neighborhood in San José del Valle, the last stretch of Bahía de Banderas.

Construction focuses on the area between the Jardines del Sol development and the Ameca River, where piles have been driven for a mega bridge to continue towards the Mascota River in Ixtapa. Both bridges are awaiting the installation of girders and panels.

The foundation work on both bridges is seen as crucial for completing the land connection, which is progressing significantly and is eagerly anticipated by many seeking an additional metropolitan route. As for the bypass itself, it has four branches in Bahía de Banderas, all currently in the planning and land preparation phase.

The bypass, spanning 32.2 kilometers in total, is expected to reduce travel time to the Puerto Vallarta International Airport by 25 minutes and is projected to be completed by September of this year, according to Nayarit Government estimates.
