Central Puerto Vallarta Street Closed Due to San Salvador Construction Work

Starting Monday, October 14 at 8:00 AM, Puerto Vallarta’s 5 de Diciembre neighborhood, a key area connecting the historic downtown with the northern hotel zone, will face significant traffic disruptions due to construction work on San Salvador Street. The intersection with Colombia Street will be closed until Friday, October 18, and the city urges drivers to plan alternate routes.

Edén Arturo Castillón Villaseñor, Director of Public Works, explained that the closure is necessary to complete concrete work, expand sidewalks, and repair drainage and water lines—tasks left unfinished by the previous administration. San Salvador Street is a vital road linking the tourist zone with the 5 de Diciembre Market and the Municipal Cemetery.

For drivers heading north to south, traffic will be rerouted via México Avenue. Meanwhile, south-to-north traffic will be directed onto Perú Street, which will temporarily become one-way. Another alternative route will be via Brasil Street, continuing through Brasilia, next to the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Complex.

Work will continue at other intersections on San Salvador Street, but without closing them to traffic. Authorities ask residents and visitors to exercise caution and follow the updated traffic patte
