Thanks to the initiative of Jaime Castillo Copado, an official at the Civil Registry in the city, Puerto Vallarta received the “Responsible Breastfeeding Jalisco Distinction 2023” for their lactation project implemented since June 2022.

They installed a lactation room adjacent to their offices, setting an example for other institutions and companies in the area to provide a safe lactation environment.

This distinction, awarded in the category of Promoting and Committing to Breastfeeding, was presented during a session of the Internal Committee for Promoting Breastfeeding.

The project aligns with the state’s focus on the First 1000 Days of Life policy, emphasizing exclusive breastfeeding. Castillo Copado emphasized the importance of supporting working mothers and ensuring they have the necessary facilities and assistance.

The lactation room, inaugurated in 2022 by Mayor Luis Michel and his wife, is well-equipped and accessible to all lactating women, including municipal employees, during working hours. It provides privacy and amenities such as air conditioning, changing tables, refrigerators, and sterilizers. The room aims to promote breastfeeding and facilitate milk expression in a comfortable and supportive environment.
