Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco | April 9, 2025
A dramatic rollover occurred early Wednesday morning on Federal Highway 200 near the entrance to the popular beach area of Boca de Tomates in Puerto Vallarta. The accident, which took place during morning traffic, resulted in considerable material damage but—fortunately—no serious injuries.
The crash involved a gray Chevrolet Aveo with Yucatán license plates, which was traveling from Bahía de Banderas towards Puerto Vallarta. According to preliminary reports, the driver of the Aveo rear-ended a black Nissan X-Trail, registered in the state of Colima and driven by a woman.
The impact caused the Aveo to lose control and flip over, landing upside down in the middle of the road. Inside the vehicle were the driver and two minors, all of whom miraculously escaped without serious injuries. The driver sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.
Municipal Police officers who were nearby responded quickly, securing the scene and requesting support from Transit officials and emergency medical services. Members of the Puerto Vallarta Fire Department also arrived, providing first aid, neutralizing hazards, and cleaning up broken glass and debris scattered across the roadway.
The incident temporarily disrupted traffic along the federal highway, though no additional vehicles were involved, and no major injuries were reported.
Authorities have urged drivers to remain alert and maintain safe distances, especially in high-traffic zones like this section of Highway 200, which has seen several incidents in recent weeks.
