In a desperate bid for basic services, parents, students, and teachers from the Fray Junípero Serra Secondary School in Bucerías, Bahía de Banderas, took to the streets early this Thursday morning to protest the lack of electricity and potable water at their school. Since November 2024, the institution has been without these essential services, affecting hundreds of students.

At 8:00 AM, over 20 protesters, armed with signs, blocked the central lanes of the Terralta intersection on Boulevard Riviera Nayarit for nearly half an hour, demanding that the state educational authorities of Nayarit address the issue. The protesters called for immediate action to restore electricity and water, which have been missing for over two months.

After making their concerns public, the demonstrators moved back to their classrooms but warned that they would return the following day if no solution was provided. They stressed that authorities must resolve the issue by the end of the day, threatening to block the road again on Friday if no action is taken.

The protest caused delays for motorists and staff transportation, but traffic officers were on hand to manage the situation and avoid further conflict. Local authorities are expected to respond to the urgent demands from the school community in the coming hours.
