International Space Station broadcasts images of Puerto Vallarta and Banderas Bay
February 02, 2023
Have you ever wondered how Puerto Vallarta looks from space? Now you can see it thanks to the International Space Station. The Twitter account @ISSAboveYou shared a video of the station’s trajectory from Banderas Bay to the northern city of Monterrey.
This lovely @Space_Station view across central Mexico starts over Puerto Vallarta and finishes over Monterrey.

The footage shows Puerto Vallarta, Bahía de Banderas, Tepic, Zacatecas, Saltillo and Monterrey.
Although the Space Station passes over the continents an average of 5 to 8 times a day, it can only capture specific cities at certain times, and this feature allows the general public to know when the ISS will be passing their location and to observe it, which is only possible when the solar panels are capturing light, i.e. at sunset and sunrise.
It should be noted that the ISS always moves from west to east, and this system broadcasts live video from the station’s external cameras every time it is exposed to sunlight. That’s 46 minutes out of every 92.
