It is challenging, but not impossible, to attract Spanish tourists to Puerto Vallarta

Fernando Villalba Torres, the tourism counselor at the Spanish Embassy in Mexico, noted that Puerto Vallarta has a lot of potential to draw Spanish visitors but that a consistent flight has not been possible due to the distance and the fact that Spaniards still use the nation’s capital or Cancun as a gateway to Mexico.

In this regard, Iberostar through the World tu fly charter, delayed the plan for an air connection between Madrid and Puerto Vallarta until the year 2023.

The representative highlighted Aeromexico’s direct daily schedule between Guadalajara and Madrid and asked travel brokers to encourage Spanish tourists to visit Puerto Vallarta, which is home to stunning natural features along the Mexican Pacific.

The flow of Mexican tourists to Spain has increased by almost 20 percent with 4 percent more spending per trip compared to 2019. In the first eight months of the year, Mexico has received 200,000 Spanish tourists traveling to Mexico City, Cancun and the southeast, mainly.

In an interview conducted as part of the Vallarta-Nayarit Gastronomic festival, the official stated that there are already 47 regular flights between Mexico and Spain from Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Cancun, and that this number is steadily increasing.
