As part of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of Jalisco as a free and sovereign state, a gastronomic tasting was held last Friday at the Tecnológico Superior de Jalisco campus Puerto Vallarta.

The event was attended by the directors of the different high school and university campuses of Vallarta, who enjoyed some typical Jalisco dishes such as tortas ahogadas, pozole, birria tacos, tamales and tejuino drinks and tequila.

The event was entertained with some dancing and singing. 2023 marks the 200th anniversary of the founding of Jalisco as a free and sovereign state: June 16, 1823.

The first state of independent Mexico was founded in the midst of the struggle to define the type of government for our country: for the republic against the monarchy, for federalism against centralism.
