Los Cabos lifesavers to take training course
June 05, 2023
Due to the upcoming Aquatic Rescue course, the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone (Zofemat) announced via social media that its lifeguards will be temporarily removed from the beaches of Cabo San Lucas. The staff responsible for the safety of swimmers will need to miss these dates in order to attend this course, which is held annually by the Cabo San Lucas Fire Department and the lifeguard association “Surf Livesaving del Sur.”
108 lifeguards in all received water rescue training in 2022 from retired lifeguards from California, USA. Sergeant Gabriel Garcia Tinoco, who passed away in April, will be remembered during the 19th session of this training course. Sergeant Garcia Tinoco is a prime example of commitment and dedication to his work, having devoted more than 35 years of service to the heroic work of firefighters.
Given that more swimmers are anticipated on the municipality’s beaches during the upcoming hot season, this training is crucial for the lifeguards’ education. To ensure quality service and protect the lives of national, international, and local tourists who visit the beaches, hotel staff as well as Zofemat staff will continue to receive ongoing training.
