Massive Blackout Affects Puerto Vallarta, Bahía de Banderas, and Compostela

A massive blackout caught residents of Puerto Vallarta, Bahía de Banderas, and Compostela off guard on Thursday afternoon, when at 7:26 pm, the entire region experienced a sudden power outage. The disruption, which also affected cell phone and internet signals, lasted until 7:30 pm, causing widespread concern.

As of now, the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) has yet to release an official statement explaining the cause of the blackout. Local authorities also remain silent on the matter, leaving many uncertain about what triggered the simultaneous outage in several areas.

In response, the Citizen Security Police deployed officers across neighborhoods, schools, and shopping centers to be on standby in case of emergencies, as security systems were temporarily down.

Shortly after, electricity and cell signals were restored in most areas, but intermittent outages continue to affect some neighborhoods. This has caused alarms in several businesses to go off, keeping the Police on high alert.
