The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transport (SICT), Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, announced that the new section of the Guadalajara-Puerto Vallarta highway from Bucerías to Puerto Vallarta’s International Airport will be completed in April 2025. The project, which is currently 67% finished, promises to significantly reduce travel times and provide relief to thousands of drivers.

Despite delays caused by seasonal rains, Esteva Medina assured that construction is now progressing at full speed to ensure the section will be operational before the 2025 Easter holidays. The 34.9-kilometer stretch will include eight elevated bridges, a ramp, three crossing structures, and two junctions, benefiting over 70,000 residents of two municipalities. This new section is expected to save travelers 30 minutes on their route to the airport.

Alongside the Tepic-Compostela section, set for completion by the end of May, the highway will form a crucial part of the upgraded infrastructure connecting Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta.
