More than 700 enthusiastic runners and walkers gathered early this Sunday, October 27, in Marina Vallarta to participate in the highly anticipated second annual CPS Media and Hospital CMQ Fun Run. With clear skies and a vibrant atmosphere, the event exceeded expectations, bringing together a diverse community of participants all rallying to support a meaningful cause.
Participants began arriving around 7 a.m. on Popa Street, ready to warm up for the 3k and 5k routes that wound through Marina Vallarta. An upbeat playlist and festive mood lifted spirits as attendees joined the lively warm-up session led by instructor Efren Muñoz, who incorporated fun dance moves to kick off the morning on an energetic note.
As the 5k runners took their starting positions, William Arredondo Camacho, Director of the Municipal Sports Council, counted down the start, and at 8 a.m., the race was on. Minutes later, the 3k participants followed, eager to join in the experience.
Sponsors added to the excitement by hosting interactive booths, games, and prize giveaways, creating a sense of community and connection. The event’s route traced along the scenic Paseo de la Marina, leading runners back to the finish line on Popa Street, where cheers and celebration awaited.
In the men’s 5k, Andrés Herrera took first place with a time of 16:04:01, with Leonel Gutiérrez and Moisés Hernández placing second and third. In the women’s category, Susana Montes crossed the finish line first in 19:07:03, followed by Dorian Godínez and Camila Ramos in second and third place, respectively. The top finishers were awarded special prizes for their achievements, while all participants proudly took home commemorative medals.
CPS Media kept the energy high post-race with additional activities, including a raffle featuring exciting prizes like bicycles. This year’s event not only highlighted the joy of sports and community togetherness but also the importance of giving back. CPS Media and Hospital CMQ expressed gratitude to all participants and sponsors, underscoring their commitment to making the Fun Run a cherished annual tradition.
With families, friends, and even pets joining in, the Fun Run provided a family-friendly atmosphere where smiles and high spirits ruled the day. From children in strollers to excited young runners and determined adults, participants of all ages crossed the finish line with a sense of pride and accomplishment, looking forward to the next CPS Media and Hospital CMQ Fun Run.
