The family of the late historian, Professor Carlos Munguía Fregoso, has contributed his valuable historical archive to the Los Mangos Library in Puerto Vallarta.

The digitized collection, formally received by the library’s director, Dinora Yozozky Cortés González, includes documents, images, and writings from Munguía’s tenure as the city’s official historian until his passing in 2005.

This significant addition, part of the ‘Vallartan Memory Archive,’ consists of 896 documents digitally preserved for public access. The process, led by current historian Juan Manuel Gómez Encarnación, aims to rescue, preserve, and share Puerto Vallarta’s history.

The library’s director, Isela Mariscal, highlights plans for a special room dedicated to the city’s history. The event marks a crucial step in making Carlos Munguía’s valuable collection accessible to the Vallarta community.
