The director of SEAPAL, Rigoberto Velázquez Navarro, has addressed concerns about water flowing through the streets of Emiliano Zapata and the Romantic Zone in Puerto Vallarta. He clarified that the water is not always sewage but comes from underground sources released by new buildings. Velázquez Navarro announced a project to purify this water for use not only in tourist areas but also in the 5 de Diciembre and Versalles neighborhoods.

Water discharge

In response to water spills in Emiliano Zapata caused by deep foundations in new buildings, SEAPAL has requested some to redirect this water through a 4-inch pipe. They are currently working on purifying it, with initial analysis suggesting it is almost drinkable, requiring only chlorine. Additionally, a filtration system is being introduced for an added layer of purification.

Velázquez Navarro identified two locations with water issues, specifically at the corner of Constitución and Aquiles Serdán, and the underground parking of Parque Hidalgo. The monitoring of a spring in the 5 de Diciembre area is ongoing. SEAPAL has already addressed discharges in Versalles and is exploring partnerships to install filters, aiming to enhance the potable water network.
