Jalisco celebrated the very best of its tourism, culture, and hospitality industries this week as the State Tourism Secretariat, in partnership with the iconic platform México Desconocido, unveiled the inaugural “Lo Mejor de Jalisco 2025” Awards. Held at the prestigious PALCCO event center in Guadalajara, the ceremony gathered leading entrepreneurs, creators, hoteliers, artisans, culinary stars, and media representatives for an evening dedicated to honoring excellence across the state.

From the entire Costa Norte region, only three names earned a place among this year’s winners—Sierra Lago Resort & Spa, Canopy River, and Juan Vela—each recognized for their outstanding contributions to Jalisco’s tourism landscape.

Sierra Lago: A Sanctuary of Wellness in the Mountains

Nestled in the pine-covered highlands of Mascota, Sierra Lago Resort & Spa received one of the most anticipated honors of the night: “Best Wellness Tourism Experience.”

Voted by the public through an open poll conducted November 6–23, the award recognizes Sierra Lago’s unparalleled approach to well-being—where serene lake views, refined accommodations, immersive activities, and holistic spa rituals come together to create a complete mind-body-spirit experience. • Ballet Folclórico de Guadalajara – Honored as Best Cultural or Community Experience.

• Museo Cabañas – Named Best Contemporary Art Space.

• Bruna – Recognized for Innovation on the Plate.

• Poncho Cadena – Celebrated as Star Chef.

• José Cuervo Express – Awarded the Agave de Oro distinction.

• Benito Santos – Named Jalisco Creative for his contributions to fashion.

• Hotel Demetria – Earned Best Boutique Hotel, while Four Seasons Tamarindo took home Best Luxury Lodging.

Festivities were also highlighted, with the International Mariachi and Charrería Festival named Best Festival, and the beloved Romería de la Virgen de Zapopan honored as Best Traditional Celebration.

Tourism on the Rise

During the ceremony, State Tourism Secretary Michelle Fridman unveiled strong tourism indicators for 2025:

• Jalisco now ranks third nationally in tourism GDP contribution

• Second in hotel revenue

• Visitor arrivals, economic impact, employment, and hotel occupancy all registered positive growth

• Between January and September 2025, Jalisco welcomed 24.3 million visitors, generating more than 55 billion pesos in economic activity

This upward trend cements Jalisco as a powerhouse of Mexican tourism—one driven by innovation, tradition, and a relentless commitment to quality.
