September 27, 2021
The heritage of respect for diversity that Puerto Vallarta has permanently adopted has been recognized once again. The North American site Global Travel Industry News ranks the city among the top ten safest and most respectful LGBTQ+ destinations on an international level.
Travel restrictions have begun to soften and travelers are looking for new adventures. That includes the LGBT community, which must also consider security and regulatory issues in several areas throughout the world. We must remember that homosexuality remains illegal in 69 countries.
U.S. travel industry experts selected the top ten gay-friendly cities for vacationing. They ranked destinations based on a list of different factors. These include segment safety ratings, incidences of discrimination, community events, bars and nightclubs, and gay-oriented hotels.
Puerto Vallarta, the World’s Friendliest City for LGBTQ+
Puerto Vallarta has earned the title of the World’s Friendliest City. Its welcoming, friendly, and inclusive attitude toward guests from the LGBTQ+ community is a big reason. That is why they choose this tourist destination as their favorite site to spend an unforgettable vacation year after year.
Our town has received numerous awards from international organizations and media for being a gay-friendly, hospitable, and inclusive destination. It has become a reference for the community’s tourism, which has positioned itself through the city’s Romantic Zone or “gayborhood.” It is a trendy place that integrates more than 70 establishments such as gay-oriented hotels, restaurants, theaters, and shops.
Puerto Vallarta provides a wide range of activities for the sector, including the recent opening of the “Armario Arcoris” (Rainbow Closet). It features a collection of LGBTQ+ literary works at the Los Mangos Public Library. Furthermore, from November 17 to 22, the community will be entertained by the Brawny Bear Weekend 2021. It will present worldwide DJs in one of the most exclusive locations, the Mantamar Beach Club.
Also, the people of Vallarta have raised the name of this destination. For instance, Lorena Amor, the representative of Puerto Vallarta, won the first place in the MissTrans Global Mexico contest. This contest seeks to position the leadership of the transgender community on a national level.
The green pearl of the Mexican Pacific is a safe tourist destination for the gay community as well as all visitors arriving in Puerto Vallarta. As a reaffirmation, the recent National Urban Public Safety Survey (ENSU) conducted by INEGI places the city in the Top 10 of Mexico’s safest places.
