Traffic Reopens in Mezcales After Fuel Tanker Overturns

After nearly 12 hours of intensive efforts, fuel transfer operations were completed by 2:00 PM on Wednesday for the tanker that overturned earlier that morning at a gas station along the lateral road from Mezcales to Tondoroque on the Riviera Nayarit Boulevard in Bahía de Banderas.

Using a crane, authorities managed to lift the trailer, which had been lying on its left side since the accident. With the tanker upright and secured, traffic was fully restored, and circulation in the area returned to normal.

The incident had led to the closure of the roadway at approximately 3:00 AM due to the hazardous nature of the spilled fuel. Nearby residences were evacuated as a precaution, and the area remained under the watch of the Mexican Army, Municipal Police, and traffic officers throughout the operation.

The accident caused significant traffic congestion throughout the morning and early afternoon, as vehicles were rerouted via the Mezcales overpass.
