Urban Parks: Vallarta’s New Green Spaces Seek Investment
January 07, 2025
Approved on November 4 after nine years of planning, this initiative covers 66 hectares, making Vallarta the fifth municipality in Jalisco to include such areas within its urban zone.
Bartolo Cruz Romero, the municipal government’s Deputy Director of the Environment, highlighted the parks’ ecotourism potential but emphasized the need for management and operational plans. “The goal is to foster environmental education and culture, encouraging everyone to become guardians of these spaces,” he stated.
Looking ahead to 2025, the city plans to seek funding from municipal budgets and private sponsors to transform these areas into ecotourism attractions that benefit both the local community and visitors. With this initiative, Puerto Vallarta is reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, offering new green spaces as a promise for both environmental preservation and tourism growth.
